Classroom/Recess Discipline

Classroom/Recess Misbehavior - Discipline Matrix

Referrals may be written for violations of the Education Code 48900 (a-s.7).   An Administrator will see the students for every referral written.  All referrals will be sent home with the student, or mailed home, and parent contact will be made.  Students may be suspended or expelled from school for violations of the Education Code at anytime regardless of the number of referrals or where the student is on the Discipline Matrix.  In-House suspension may be assigned in lieu of out of school suspension.  It is at the discretion of the administrator to assign consequences for student referrals.  Parent cooperation and support is vital in student discipline and the success of the student discipline program at Morongo Valley Elementary School.

The following Discipline Matrix will be used as a Guide for student referrals:

**Teachers will need to contact parent and write behavior reports prior to the referral process being enacted for non-severe behaviors.

Referral #1 – Parents notified. Warning and/or after school detention.

Referral #2 – Parents notified. After school detention and/or temporary placement in another classroom.

Referral #3 – Parents notified. 1-2 days out of school suspension.  Behavior contract will be written, possible SCT meeting.

Referral #4 – Parents notified. 2-3 days out of school suspension.

Referral #5 – Parents notified. 3-4 days out of school suspension.

Referral #6 – Parents notified. 4-5 days out of school suspension.

Referral #7 – Parents notified. 5 days out of school suspension. Possible recommendation for expulsion.

** Students will be recommended for expulsion from school when 20 total days of suspension has occurred.  Students may be recommended for expulsion prior to receiving 20 total days of suspension depending on the violation.  SCT’s for behavior may be scheduled at anytime.
