Principal's Message

 Dear Morongo Elementary Families,

Welcome to another school year. It is important that we take the time to be thankful every day and not just during the holidays. , however, often during this time of year we hear people mumbling about what they hear on the news. Too much emphasis on the negative and not enough about what individuals can do. Often it is all about upcoming elections and what the opponent can’t do: name calling, evasion, and half-truths. It’s disappointing when we spend so much time in school trying to teach our students that good character and a kind heart are important. They hear the verbal slashing that adults give each other in the name of politics or sports. Here at Morongo Valley Elementary, we believe that our children should hear more about good character traits. As a community, we will continue to focus on a different character trait each month and our PBIS program. None of us is perfect, but we try to set a good example. You don’t have to be perfect to help you child reach for the stars. When children find themselves making poor decisions, my common line of questioning begins, “Would you have acted that way if your parents or I had been standing next to you?” 100% of the time, the answer is, “No!” Help us help your children by supporting consequences at school for poor choices, demonstrating good civic choices, and encouraging your child to practice good choices whenever possible.

I would like to send out special thanks to all of our staff members who worked so hard to make the Mustang Round Up a success. We also wish to thank the parents, volunteers, and staff who each year help to make our afterschool programs a great success.

A few more housekeeping items:

  •  Please do not bring or allow you child to arrive at school prior to 8:15. Our staff does not arrive before this time and there is no one to care for them.
  •  Rules for Discipline, Dress Code and other school rules have not changed: you may refer to your student handbook or ask to see a copy on file at our school office.
  •  Please be sure that shoes worn to school on PE days are closed toe and have straps on the back. Flip-flop type shoes are not allowed.
  •  Bullying will not be tolerated on our campus: should a student be involved in this immediate disciplinary action will be taken.

I will close with the following quote,

“Our character is what we do when we think no one is looking.” – H. Jackson Browne.

Have a wonderful year.
